June 14th, 2024 marks an important milestone as the Inter-agency Taskforce on Children's and Maternal Health and Well-being CAMH publishes its comprehensive strategy and action plan. The taskforce has been dedicated to exploring ways to strengthen holistic support for children from birth to age 18 years old and their families, with a focus on achieving better health outcomes.
Adapting to Evolving Challenges: Despite Singapore's commable progress in child and maternal health, new challenges are being identified such as the rising age of first-time mothers. This demographic shift increases the risk for pregnancy complications and childhood obesity which can lead to lifelong health issues. Therefore, it is imperative that we continue adapting and enhancing our efforts to optimize health outcomes for children, ensuring a healthier generation of Singaporeans.
Taskforce Background: Established in January 2021 under the leadership of Minister for Social and Family Development and Second Minister for Health, Mr Masagos Zulkifli, this taskforce is part of broader government initiatives med at addressing individual health needs beyond medical domns. It brings together over twenty agencies across health, social services, and education sectors to ensure comprehensive support.
Key Findings Recommations: The taskforce has conducted thorough research and analysis leading up to the identification of key areas for improvement and the formulation of actionable recommations in their strategy and action plan report.

In January 2024, the mother-child dyad service delivery model began operating in nineteen polyclinics nationwide to provide integrated healthcare services.
As of November 2022, Family Nexus pilot programs were launched at Our Tampines Hub and Keat Hong ServiceSG office for family services related to young children and couples planning for parenthood. Additional sites like Choa Chu Kang Polyclinic, Punggol Polyclinic, and Sembawang Polyclinic followed suit in September and October 2023 respectively.
Collaborative pilot programs such as Project HOME and HEADS-UPP have been implemented to provide tlored support for lower-income families alongside social agencies and preschools.
