Healthy Babies Bright Futures HBBF is dedicated to protecting children from the harmful effects of neurotoxins and empowering communities, policymakers, and corporate leaders to reduce these exposures. We strive for a world where every child can thrive without being burdened by toxic substances that can impact their development.
Our work encompasses:
Empowering parents with knowledge and tools to make informed choices about baby foods and home environments.
Collaborating with cities through our Bright Cities program, which supports pilot projects med at reducing neurotoxic exposures while addressing climate change.
Advocating for lead service line replacement in communities across the United States as part of lead reduction initiatives.
Driving innovation and change in food safety regulations through our partnerships, such as with FDA's Closer to Zero initiative.
We've awarded grants totaling $105,000 to five cities participating in pilot projects designed to secure additional federal funding for environmental health improvements. Our Bright Cities program is particularly excited about this funding because it aligns with efforts to reduce toxic exposures and confront climate challenges simultaneously.
Furthermore, we have secured awards amounting to $60,000 for lead reduction projects led by four cities across the country. This investment in local initiatives underscores our commitment to tackling environmental justice issues that disproportionately affect vulnerable populations.
Recognizing the urgency of baby food safety, HBBF has launched grants totaling $75,000 to three cities that are working on projects with children's health and climate co-benefits. This marks a significant step towards reducing neurotoxic exposures for babies while also addressing environmental sustnability.
HBBF's recent collaboration with the Mayors Innovation Project led to an initiative awarding six grants across various strategies med at scaling existing methods of reducing neurotoxic exposures equitably.
In addition, our support for Representative Raja Krishnamoorthi’s Baby Food Safety Act demonstrates HBBF’s commitment to advocating for policies that limit heavy metals in baby food, thereby protecting the developing brns of infants.
HBBF's response to FDA's Closer to Zero action levels underscores our critical stance on safety standards, challenging these levels and calling for a more stringent approach that can effectively safeguard children from neurotoxins.
In summary, HBBF is at the forefront of combating toxic exposures to protect our youngest generation. We are proud to lead efforts in empowering communities, advocating for change, and driving innovation in policy and corporate practices to ensure every child's right to grow up healthy and safe.
