5 Protein - Lean protein sources include low-fat meats such as chicken breast, pork loin or turkey and fish. Include plant-based proteins such as beans, peas, lentils and soy products.

Regular exercise is also recommed even before pregnancy to mntn a healthy lifestyle.

It's important to note that while a prenatal vitamin supplement might help meet additional nutritional needs, it cannot replace a well-balanced diet rich in nutrients.

Iron intake helps in preparing the body for pregnancy by building iron stores which are essential for the fetus during this time. Good sources of dietary iron include:

1 Red meat like beef, pork and lamb as well as organ meats.

2 Poultry such as chicken or turkey especially dark meat.

3 Fish including sardines, anchovies and shellfish.
